Short Films Production Company in Denver

We were making short films long before we touched our first commercial, and the only reason we opened a commercial video production company was for our love of making short films. The ig difference, is not we get paid to make films. Dreams do come true!

In addition to being screened around the globe, our work has garnered 3 Vimeo Staff Picks, been featured on Short of the Week, and won category awards at prominent festivals.

(Otherworldly) makes deliciously absurd films packed into bewildering worlds of practical effects, unusual inventions, and intriguing characters. (Evan) describes his short film as simply “A cave man meets a spaceman,” but that description can’t prepare you for the zany, magical, manic journey Mann takes you on in Voyage of the Galactic Space Dangler.

Short films offer a wide range of creative possibilities and can be crafted in countless ways, boasting the same level of versatility as their feature-length counterparts. Whether you’re envisioning an emotional drama, a whimsical animated short, or anything in between, our Denver-based team at Otherworldly Productions is ready to bring your vision to life, no matter how bold or unique it may be.

Short films vary in runtime, but to be considered “shorts” they must be under 40 minutes, including the credits. This format allows for concise, impactful storytelling while still offering unlimited creative freedom.

Short films also generally fall into three categories:

1. Narrative Short Film

Think of narratives as regular movies but with a shorter runtime. They are generally fictional, dramatized versions of stories. An example of a famous narrative short film is The Red Balloon by Albert Lamorisse.

2. Documentary Short Film

Documentary short films focus on nonfiction and authentic exploration of specific topics, peoples, places, or themes, just as feature-length films. These are also featured at the Oscar Awards.

3. Avant-Garde Short Film

An avant-garde short film is an experimental and unconventional film that challenges traditional filmmaking norms and techniques. It aims to provoke thought, evoke strong emotional responses, or explore artistic expressions. Avant-garde short films are typically less concerned with commercial appeal and more focused on creativity, innovation, and artistic exploration.
